Rock Chronology #215: Black Dog

“Black Dog”, Led Zeppelin, 1971.

I’ve been jonesing for some more Led Zeppelin. “Black Dog” is the probably the best song you could start any album with, so it is rightly the lead track on Led Zeppelin’s fourth album.

This album is so amazing that it is the second best selling album of all time in the US (bested only by Thriller). It is also the tenth best selling album of all time worldwide. What is weird is that it only peaked at #2 on the US album charts. They also released a single for “Black Dog” in the US which only peaked at #15 (like that matters). No one bought the single, because everyone bought the album instead.
